Random thoughts and shots

We are very spoiled around here.  We have some of the best weather.  I just had to get out one evening and take some random pictures of some of my favorite places.
I don't know why but this tree and clock always make me think of Alice in Wonderland.
Maybe I'll try to paint this one. Hmmm. Hope your evening is peaceful.  I'll talk to you again soon.

Sewing bug

Do you ever go through creative phases?  Sometimes for weeks or months all I want to do is stamp or paint or stitch.  Well, right now I've been bitten by the sewing bug.  But, I like fast projects that don't take a lot of time and give you something to show for it, pretty much right away.  I was visiting one of my favorite blogs, Mish Mash, and she was showing some cute ideas for using vintage fabric, make napkin sets, so I though for all my "green" conscience friends these were a great idea as hostess gifts or thinking of you or just because.  I have quite a stash of fabric so I went through and picked some cute ones to make napkins.  My fabric may not be vintage but I think they are turning out very pretty.  I still need to think about a fun way to package them but for right now, it's been so fun to sit at my machine and crank these out : )
The picture does not show the fabric pattern but it's a tone on tone in white.
This fabric is a sweet little flocked blue polka dot.  I've got some more fun fabric that is just waiting to be cut up and sewn, guess I'll go get busy.  Hey, thanks for stopping by, leave me a comment to let me know you stopped in.  I'll talk to you again soon.

I'm baaack

Hi All,
I'm back from the road trip and have had little time to visit my craft room.  I got home and we started in on the summer yard clean up, trimming and cutting down trees and bushes, chopping weeds and general clean up, replacing window screens, the birds like to pull the fibers off of ours to build their nests!  So, I finally grabbed a little time to do a couple of small projects.
I am a notebook junkie, I keep one or two of them in my purse, beside my bed, on my desk at school and on the computer table in my craft room.  I usually pick them up for a $1.00 in a variety of places since I go through them so fast.  I make lists, jot down ideas, sketch out layouts and card designs, record color combinations that look or sound interesting, any thing that comes to my mind that I don't want to forget.  Anyway, I wanted a small art journal to play around with my water colors and more so I decided to make my own.
I started with some pretty file folders and a tablet of watercolor paper.
I cut everything to the size I wanted and bound them together with my Zutter bind-it-all.
Now I have a new place to play around with color...
Have a great weekend, I've got more to post later. Talk to you again soon.

On the road

I'm traveling this week to Washington DC.  I'm taking lots of pictures.  I don't have my editing software but here are a couple of quick ones.  I'm back in the place where I was born.

These white flowers are everywhere.  I thought they were pretty.

Have a great weekend and I'll talk to you again soon.

Recap of May

Ok, as months go this one has been full and just a tad crazy.  Here's a quick recap of some of the high points.
I had a birthday, flowers from my sweet hubby.

Birthday cheesecake and confetti from my friend Rosa
Creating a "character cafe" for book fair at school
Cute bistro tables and chairs are my birthday present from Mom and Dad for the patio I want to create this summer.  Then I decided I was having too much fun so I came down with Shingles!  If you've never had them consider yourself blessed!  The doctor said they can occur when you are under a lot of stress.  I didn't feel stressed but I guess my body was trying to tell me something else.  Anyway I spent almost three weeks unable to use my left arm because it would alternate between pain and a burning sensation then the awful blisters, yuck.  So, just in the last couple of days I've been able to do a little more and I finally finished the sewing project I've been trying to work on all month.

I was making these cute aprons for all my helpers for the book fair.  As things worked out, they didn't get them until the last day of school, as thank you gifts, but they modeled them for me anyway.  I think they turned out great.  Well, that's some of the highlights of May, so far, I still have a couple of graduations to go to, a couple of retirement shindigs and another birthday celebration before May is over.  Hope your May was happily eventful.  I've got big plans for June so I'll talk to you again soon.
