Recap of May

Ok, as months go this one has been full and just a tad crazy.  Here's a quick recap of some of the high points.
I had a birthday, flowers from my sweet hubby.

Birthday cheesecake and confetti from my friend Rosa
Creating a "character cafe" for book fair at school
Cute bistro tables and chairs are my birthday present from Mom and Dad for the patio I want to create this summer.  Then I decided I was having too much fun so I came down with Shingles!  If you've never had them consider yourself blessed!  The doctor said they can occur when you are under a lot of stress.  I didn't feel stressed but I guess my body was trying to tell me something else.  Anyway I spent almost three weeks unable to use my left arm because it would alternate between pain and a burning sensation then the awful blisters, yuck.  So, just in the last couple of days I've been able to do a little more and I finally finished the sewing project I've been trying to work on all month.

I was making these cute aprons for all my helpers for the book fair.  As things worked out, they didn't get them until the last day of school, as thank you gifts, but they modeled them for me anyway.  I think they turned out great.  Well, that's some of the highlights of May, so far, I still have a couple of graduations to go to, a couple of retirement shindigs and another birthday celebration before May is over.  Hope your May was happily eventful.  I've got big plans for June so I'll talk to you again soon.

Not gone...

Hi everyone,
I'm not gone I've been very sick the last few weeks and I'm still not back to a workable pain threshold, Dr.'s think things will clear up soon. Here's a little look at a few things in my workroom just calling me to come back and use them. Hold tight I'm coming!
Have a wonderful weekend, I'll be back and talking to you all again soon!

Quick, I need a card!

I've gotten way behind on card giving the last couple of weeks so I needed to catch up, quick! These went together in about 5 minutes.

I found some pretty double sided cardstock in my stash and layered it on top of a second piece of pretty cardstock,

stamped happy birthday, added a little bling and ribbon and ta-da.

Ready to go, now I just need to get them written, put in envelopes and sent out, guess I'm half way there:)  I better go get finished.  Then, I'm making a "big" salad for dinner.  Have a great evening and a wonderful Wednesday.  I'll talk to you soon.

Blocks 1-6

Hi Everyone!
Here's the update on the stitching.  I started a draft of my ideas...
So, here is my thought process.  All my blessing center around one theme, LOVE.  The love of my Savior, my sweet spouse, my devoted parents and family, and dear friends.  To me it only made sense to start in the very middle and work my way around.  My color palate is all over the place, but to tie it all together I'll use a pale grey/gray to outline the blocks.  I didn't want the grid to completely disappear but I didn't want it to be a focus either so this was my solution.  I also wound up using an second layer of muslin to stabilize the piece.  I machine basted them and then hooped the whole thing.  I like how it's helping to keep my close stitches from popping out if I get to close to the first hole, make sense?

I know, I went a little wild with the vines but I was playing and I love making french knots too, don't be surprised if there are a lot of them through out.  We've finally had a break in the wind this morning, it's a little cool but the sun is shining.  I hope you are getting a little sunlight in your life today.  Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful weekend.  **Sewing projects are coming soon but, they take me a lot longer than stamping projects do, so that's why the postings have not been as frequent the past couple of weeks.  I'll talk to you again soon.
