Monday Musing

It's not officially fall around here but, the mornings are a bit cooler, there has been condensation on the windshield when I leave in the morning and a few of the plants are showing the beginning signs that the change of season is headed our way.  I wandered outside and just shot a few pictures as the sun was going down.  If you look closely, part of the blooms have given up their seeds, the next step in the seasonal pattern has started with just a few baby steps.  From my perch over the valley the trees around the river are just starting to take on those lighter shades of green before the yellow, orange and rust seep in.

These trees are covered with all kinds of insects, ants, flying things and I even caught a quick picture of a lady bug.  The trees drip some kind of sap and the insects are everywhere.  I started to feel quite itchy after a few minutes of photographing the blooms.  I guess I'm not a true bug person.

I do enjoy the changing of the seasons, each one has it's own special offering and the time seems so fleeting.  I hope you take a few minutes to stop and look at the flowers, watch out for bugs!

I'll talk to you again soon!

Monday Musing

Playing around with Bokeh and post processing in Lightroom this past weekend.  My subject was a small little clump of wild flowers just outside the library door.

I used my 85mm 1.8 lens.  I've seen several really beautiful pictures around the web the last few days and wanted to try some on my own.  Still working on getting it just right.

Thanks for stopping by, I'll talk to you again soon.

Travel case

Just a quick post today, I made another mini suitcase with my suitcase die.  This one has a travel theme going on.  I may fill it with a few art supplies for a little road trip or create a travel journal for recording special moments.  We'll see what unfolds.

Wishing you a week full of fun adventures.  I'll talk to you again soon.

Afternoon art with friends

Saturday afternoon I had the chance to get together with a group of friends.  I took a bunch of my art supplies and some blank canvas' and we played with paper, paint and a few found objects.  This is a little bit of what the results were.  But, mostly it was about spending time with each other and having fun.  The food was really good too!

None of them had ever done a mixed media project before and they bravely worked outside of their creative boxes all afternoon.  It was a great adventure and I think their work turned out awesome!  Thanks ladies I had so much fun with you.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll talk to you again soon.

In the Library...

We started the year with a little fly.  Fly Guy that is.  My students are crazy for fly guy, a character created by Ted Arnold.  In fact, the second day I was open for check out, the fly guy book shelf was completely empty.

It had been full the day before.  I now have a waiting list.  It is so fun to see them excited about books.  Thanks for stopping by, I'll talk to you again soon.

Monday Musing

We live in a semi arid part of the country.  But, once a year, we have our version of monsoon season.  Just a little moisture and all the shades of brown begin to show off with color.  These sweet little wild flowers started blooming in our yard this past week and I wanted to capture them before everything begins to return to its typical dryness.

It's so nice to have a little pop of color to smile at.  Happy Labor Day.  Thanks for stopping by.  I'll talk to you again soon.
