Late Mojo

I really wanted to participate in the 100th Mojo Monday fun but there was just not enough time or energy left to get it done.  I really liked the sketch though and decided to do a quick card based on it.
I used bright cheery summertime colors even though there was a bit of a nip in the air this morning when I went out.  I can't believe fall is right around the corner.  Guess I'll have to pull out some of those colors for a project soon.  Have a marvelous Monday and I'll talk to you again soon.

Friday Favorites on Saturday

Oh my goodness, where did last week go?  I wasn't home much all week and didn't get into my creative space hardly at all.  However, I did finish up and start a few projects.  Today I'm going to share the first page in my "Some favorite things" mini album.  I decided to keep the pages simple and there will be a tag behind the page with journaling as to why something is included in my "favorites" album.  This first page pretty much speaks for it's self.  This is my guide book and it is filled with love letters just for me.  I love reading it.  Included on this page is one of my favorite Psalms.  Psalms 100, this psalm reminds me to be joyful in my circumstances and know that I am being watched over and cared for no matter what may be happening by someone greater than all that is going on.
Hope you have an awesome weekend and I'll talk to you again soon.

Button, button who's got the button...

Do you remember playing that game?  I do, it was always hard for me to keep a straight face when someone hid the button in my hands.  Those of you who know me know I love buttons.  I come by it naturally, my sweet grandad was a traveling salesman and he sold, you guessed it!  Buttons.  He also sold what he called "notions"  laces, appliques, fabric, and braid.  I spent many happy hours going through his sample books looking at all the different designs and colors.  My mom, who is a wonderful seamstress, collected the discontinued buttons and had several coffee cans full of his old button samples. We would sit around for hours and sort those buttons, lay them out in various designs just to scoop them up and rearrange them again.  So I love buttons and I am very excited to see all the new cards and crafts that are popping up with buttons adorning them.  Recently Papertrey Ink released a new stamp set that is made especially to use with buttons.  I don't have the set but, it did inspire me to go through my sets and see if there was something I could use to create the same look.  This card is the result.  I love it, hope you like it too.
Well, I'm off to get ready for school tomorrow.  It's the student's first day back and I am morning hall monitor.  I have to finish decorating my "duty" vest.  Got to "bling" it up a little bit.  Have a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

Glad you're here!

Wow, were did last week go?  I have been so busy with the preparation for school to start there was hardly time to be creative, but I managed to squeeze a little bit in.  I put together "welcome" baskets for all the new staff members.  Our school is growing by leaps and bounds this year and when I started at the beginning of the week we had eight new staff members and by Friday I was preparing gifts for eighteen!  It is SO fun to meet new people and get caught up in a brand new teacher's excitement for their first full time teaching experience.  The welcome baskets have a variety of goodies including pens and pencils, hole punches, tape, a school shirt, candy (chocolate) of course:) and I made each of them a welcome mini notepad with the school's initials and our mascot, the raven.

I have seen these notepad at various spots around the blog-sphere but most recently here at Mish's place.  Visit her blog to see some of her awesome work.  I did these assembly line fashion so they went together very quickly.
I'll talk to you again soon.  Have a wonderful Monday and an amazing week!

Favorites Friday

I have been planning a mini album of some of my favorite things, and this past week, I finally took the plunge and started it.  I used two 5"x7" canvas' painted them pink then white washed them.  Hinged them on one side with little mini piano hinges then embelished the front with some of my favorite papers, small tokens and blingy things.  I cut apart one of those plastic 4"x6" albums, you know the kind you find in the dollar bin at Michaels.  Sewed some of the pages together on one side to make my page protectors.  Now over the next few weeks I'll start my pages for inside the book.  I just have to narrow down some of my favorite things.  There is so much around me to love.  I'm such a blessed person!  Anyway here is the front cover.  I'll share more as I finish the pages.
That's all for now.  Thanks for stopping and I'll talk to you soon.

Welcome to Wednesday, always love the middle of the week.  Survived Monday and Friday is a'coming.  Hope you've had a chance to do a little creating this week.  These are more cards for the birthday card box.  Used the same focal stamp on all three, just changed up the layouts a bit.

Mojo Tuesday?

Ok, I fell asleep early Monday night, from the shock of going back to work:).  But, I got a second wind tonight so I thought I'd try the Mojo Monday sketch.  Here is the actual sketch
This was a fun sketch and I got to use some of my favorite papers, "Emporium" from Close to My Heart.  The swirly frame is from the Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge.  Then I just had to bling it up a bit! So here is my card.

Thanks for stopping by to look.  I'll talk to you again soon!

Back to Birthday's...

Cards, that is.  Still working on my stockpile of birthday cards for the school year.  Which starts bright and early today for me.  Students have a couple more weeks of freedom.  Anyway, these cards are all the same layout, just a different focal stamp.  Found these cute little monsters at Michael's.
Thanks for stopping by, I'll talk to you soon.
