More Card club: Valentine nontraditional colors

I've got another card club card to share with you.  This time I used non-traditional colors (Not red or pink).  This is what I came up with.
I was inspired by a tag I saw on the CLASSroom blog here.  Mine is a little simplier since I'm going to have several people at once put it together:-) at the same time.

Card Club technique and card

At the February Card Club evening I'm teaching a few different techniques to my club.  This first card is created from a masterboard.  If you haven't done a masterboard before, this is what you do:  Take a piece of cardstock and stamp all over it with different (but sort of related themes) smear color, do a little embossing and you wind up with a piece something like this.
Now you have a sheet of your own background paper to cut up and use however you want.  I like this technique because sometimes you can't find just the right color combination or pattern that you want.  This way you can personalize.  Use every bit of the scraps to create a whole coordinating set of cards or scrapbook layout.  We're making valentine themed cards from ours.
More cards for club later.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.  Talk to you again soon.

Card club is coming in February

We have another card club coming up in February. I'm working on some new techniques to teach my club members. Here is a card that I got inspiration from Julie Hickey and her book Flower Power Papercrafts.

It's so delicate looking. I used the CTMH Textured cardstock to give it a little extra dimension and then layered it over a sparkly piece of vellum then put the whole panel on a Colonial White card. Ribbon is from Details and Accessories. Don't you love my little teapot picture holder! I found it at Target this weekend. I was also at Michael's this weekend and found the cutest little teapot chipboard album. I'm going to use it to capture all my cute tea pots and my favorite china tea cups. But, that's a project for this summer! I've got more cards for card club coming up so stay tuned! I'll talk to you again soon.

Dad's Birthday

We finally got to celebrate Dad's birthday. Spending time with Dad and Mom and having a nice dinner at Olive Garden. It was relaxing and fun. Here are pic's of the present and his birthday card.

Dad likes to have snacks by his chair while he is watching TV. So I made him some personalized jars with some of his favorite snacks in them. (No chocolate though) Sorry Dad.

A manly birthday card with argyle paper and matching buttons.

I walked into the kitchen just as the sun was going down and you could see the etching clearly, so I grabbed my camera and snapped a shot. Have a great week and I'll talk to you again soon!

This was taken before I was born.  Isn't he cute!!?  My aunt gave me this picture a few years ago so I would see why my mom was so smitten.  Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy New Year Take-out

I put together a few little Happy New Year tokens for some of the folks at school; my aide, the library volunteers, office ladies. I used the Ellison take-out box die and then stamped it with the bird and swirl from the felicity collection by Close to my Heart. I made each box a wire handle and a little felt fortune cookie. I filled the boxes with jelly beans of course! The fortune read: Happy New Year Wishes to you and your family. I know Chinese New Year isn't until Feb. 14th this year, but I think these work. Everyone seemed to like them.

Students are back tomorrow. Yea! school is way more fun when there are kids there! Have a great week, I'll talk to you again soon.

Happy New Year!

I hope all your dreams for the coming year come true in happy and unexpected ways.  I'm busy with my semi-annual workroom clean up trying to make space to work on new projects. But, as usual, I've already started on some cute little things.  Here is a sneak peek.

Anyone for a fat-free cupcake?  No calories guaranteed!  I wanted something sweet that wouldn't mess with my measurements :)  Inspiration for this little cutie is here, instead of dimensional paint I did a little beading.  I'll have to figure out a little gift box later.

I hope the start to your 2010 has been great, I'll talk to you again soon.
